Hulkenberg looking for points at Silverstone

Nico Hulkenberg is hoping the British Grand Prix at Silverstone this weekend will bring him the points he was hoping to collect in Austria last Sunday.

Hulkenberg lined up second on the grid at the Red Bull Ring following a very good showing in qualifying. Unfortunately, the German's hopes of achieving a good result were dashed early on as he battled to keep his tyres and brakes alive.

The n°27 Force India progressively faded towards the tail end of the field, eventually retiring on lap 64 with a brake issue.

“I’m still feeling disappointed with the result in Austria," lamented Hulkenberg.

"When you start on the front row you obviously have big hopes for the race, but things just didn’t work out for us. Fortunately we have Silverstone this week so I can get back in the car and focus on getting a good result."

Force India will have the luxury of racing 'at home', as the team's factory is located just accross the road from the Silverstone complex.

“The team’s home race is always a busy weekend because our factory is next to the track. It’s one of those special races because the grandstands are full, there’s a buzzing atmosphere and the energy of the fans gives you a real boost.

"We usually visit one of the campsites and it’s great to meet the fans and have a chat – you always see how much they love the sport.

“I love driving at Silverstone and the circuit is a real challenge. The fast sections are very enjoyable and corners such as Maggots and Becketts are some of the best of the season where you feel the true performance of an F1 car."

Motor racing was a backdrop from the outset in Phillip van Osten's life. Born in Southern California, Phillip grew up with the sights and sounds of fast cars thanks to his father, Dick van Osten, an editor and writer for Auto Speed and Sport and Motor Trend. He also authored "The American Legacy in Formula 1", a book which recounts the trials and tribulations of American drivers in Grand Prix racing. Phillip is also a commentator for Belgian broadcaster Be.TV for the US Indycar series.
