Felipe Massa says he is open to spend his first year of retirement from Formula One competing in series like DTM, Formula E, or the World Endurance Championship, while the Brazilian rules out racing in stock cars or IndyCar.

An emotional Massa announced in Monza that he would end his 14-season F1 career at the end of the current campaign.

“It was a relief straight away after I said it!” the 35-year-old told reporters ahead of this weekend’s Singapore Grand Prix. “To be honest now it’s the same, I’m still happy with my decision, just trying to enjoy and have fun in all of these last seven races.

“For sure the fun is also more fun if you have a good result, so that’s what I’m trying to do, so yeah hopefully we can have a good and enjoyable last seven races.”

Massa adds that he wants to continue racing next year and reveals he has already been approached. However, the 11-time grand prix winner insists he will not take part in any series.

“I have some people [interested] but I just need a bit of time to think about it and to decide in the best way. I will race, I just need to understand what will be the right choice that I will keep enjoying and having fun.

“I don’t think it will be stock cars, not IndyCar, I think maybe it will be DTM, WEC, Formula E, maybe one of these three I think.”
