Renault driver Kevin Magnussen is set to move across to the Haas F1 Team from the 2017 Formula One season, per multiple reports.

The Dane has been waiting on his future from the French manufacturer for several weeks, but Autosport now reports that he is close to replace Esteban Gutierrez alongside Romain Grosjean following advanced talks since the Mexican Grand Prix.

Renault’s option on Magnussen was initially set to expire on October 1 until the 24-year-old agreed to extend the deadline to October 14. On that date, the French constructor actually announced that Nico Hulkenberg was joining from Force India on a multi-year deal.

Despite previously stating his intention to stay with his current team, Magnussen has grown frustrated with the uncertainty surrounding his F1 future, while the story adds that the former McLaren driver is not on top of Renault’s wishlist.

Should Magnussen sign with Haas, Gutierrez could go the opposite way and join Renault, which tried to poach his compatriot Sergio Perez from Force India earlier this year.

However, Motorsport.com claims that Jolyon Palmer is best-placed to keep his seat and partner Hulkenberg. Once tipped for a full-time role with Renault in 2017, reserve driver and Manor rookie Esteban Ocon has been nearing a Force India deal.
