Carlos Sainz (seventh, 6 points) : 7/10

Legitimately disappointed with 12th best time in qualifying, the local driver had the bit between his teeth at the start, when, like everyone else, had to go off circuit to avoid the havoc. He then battled nose to tail with Magnussen on the track and even on pit exit where Carlito took to the grass. The virtual safety car dropped Sainz behind Wehrlein, who attacked with no success just until he was made aware of the German’s penalty.
