Not his greatest qualifying performance and then Ericsson failed to make a two-stop strategy work in the race. Starting on the soft tyre and hoping to make progress as the supersofts went off, Ericsson found he couldn’t make the softs last due to high track temperatures and switched early to supersofts. Had the same problem on that compound and needed an extra stop before he finally got the tyres working as the temperatures dropped, but by then he was adrift of the midfield pack.
