Ex-Mercedes man Clear working for Ferrari at Paul Ricard

Jock Clear has made his first public appearance as a Ferrari team member at the Pirelli wet tyre test at Paul Ricard.

The former Mercedes race engineer was confirmed as moving to Ferrari as early as December 2014, with Clear being recruited to replace outgoing head of engineering Pat Fry. At the time Ferrari said it was working with Mercedes to try and get Clear to join the team as early as possible, but a period of gardening leave was required.

Clear - who was Lewis Hamilton's performance engineer at Mercedes during his 2014 championship-winning season - has finally made his first public appearance in his new role at Ferrari, working with the team as Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel take part in the Pirelli wet tyre test on Monday and Tuesday.

The new head of engineering will be hoping to help Ferrari improve on its impressive 2015 season, with the team winning three races as it finished second in the constructors' championship to Mercedes.

Fry - the man Clear replaces - was announced as an engineering consultant at Manor Racing on Monday where he joins up with former Ferrari chief designer Nikolas Tombazis.
