Red Bull team principal Christian Horner says the British Grand Prix is "an opportunity" for the team following its podium in Austria.

On a track where Red Bull has traditionally struggled due to the need for a strong power unit, Max Verstappen finished second at the Red Bull Ring, holding off Kimi Raikkonen. Heading to a high-downforce circuit in Silverstone, Horner believes Red Bull will be able to deliver an even stronger showing this weekend.

Asked how much of a boost the result in Austria was for Red Bull, Horner replied: "It’s a great boost.

"A great boost for the team to get a podium in the Austrian Grand Prix - our home grand prix - it was an amazing performance from Max and it was a great, entertaining race. Hopefully we will be able to take that performance into Silverstone, a track both drivers enjoy and one that hopefully should be better suited to us than Austria. It’s an opportunity for us."

Asked about Verstappen's performance which saw him comfortably beat team-mate Daniel Ricciardo, Horner says it displayed how strong the Red Bull line-up is.

“Austria [Verstappen] had the upper hand, it’s been the other way round at other circuits. But it’s a great pairing and for me it’s the strongest and most exciting pairing in Formula One at the moment. So we’ve got a lot to be excited about for the future.”
