Kevin Magnussen has been taken to hospital for "precautionary checks" after a heavy crash in the Belgian Grand Prix.
The race was red flagged after Magnussen lost control at Radillon, smashing into the barriers at high speed. While Magnussen was able to get out of his damaged car unaided, the Dane was limping and was taken to the medical centre before Renault confirmed he had been taken to hospital.
"Kevin Magnussen ran wide at the exit of Eau Rouge and made heavy contact with the barriers," Renault tweeted. "He left the car unaided and was taken to the medical centre for precautionary checks. He is fully conscious and responsive.
"He has a small cut to the left ankle and has been escorted to a nearby hospital for further routine checks."
Drivers are required to undergo certain checks as a result of heavy impacts. Magnussen crash damaged the barriers on the outside of the track which required repair work before the race could restart.
