Jorge Lorenzo's sponsor Monster Energy has released a video showing the triple MotoGP world champion during his test of a Mercedes Formula One car at Silverstone last month.
The Spaniard trialled the 2014-spec V6 turbocharged W05 Hybrid that Lewis Hamilton drove to his second world title and helped Mercedes to its first Constructors’ championship.
Lorenzo tested on the British Grand Prix venue’s International layout in an event organised by Monster Energy, which supports both the rider and the F1 team. The 29-year-old described the experience “as a dream come true”.
Lorenzo thus followed in the footsteps of former MotoGP team-mate and title rival Valentino Rossi, who tested several times for Ferrari and even contemplated switching to four-wheel action earlier in his career.
