The cause of the Q2 red flag when he sprayed the circuit with pebbles, Ericsson made the most of Hamilton and Ricciardo’s issues to slot in on the grid a season’s best P13. While he was part of the mid-field melee on Sunday he wasn’t a points contender until the weather changed. Late in the going he couldn’t hold off the Force India pair or Grosjean, but he drove with his brain to claim his third top-10 of the year.
