Top motorsport marketing executive Zak Brown has quit his role with Chime Communications amid links he will become involved with new F1 owners Liberty Media.
Brown was the founder of motorsport agency Just Marketing International (JMI), which was taken over by Chime in 2013. Having since been Group Chief Executive of CSM Sport & Entertainment - owned by Chime - Brown has remained involved in motorsport having delivered a number of key sponsors to F1 and its teams including Martini, UPS and Johnnie Walker.
Following Liberty Media's announcement that it intends to takeover F1 over the coming months, F1i understands Brown has been targeted for a prominent role within a new management structure. New F1 chairman Chase Carey has previously stated his wish to expand the sport's digital offering and increase its prominence in North America, where Brown has a lot of successful experience.
In an announcement on Monday, Brown confirmed he will remain in motorsport after leaving CSM.
"I feel privileged to have been part of an extraordinary team during my tenure," Brown said. "I'm satisfied that we have achieved what I set out to do, from the successful integration of JMI into CSM through to preparing a strong business for a successful future.
"I will take this experience forward to my next chapter in the arena I know best, motorsport."
