Susie Wolff awarded MBE for services to women in sport

Former Williams Formula One test driver Susie Wolff has been awarded with the Most Excellent Member Order of the British Empire (MBE) on the 2017 New Year Honours list for her services to women in sport.

Although she retired from motor racing at the end of the 2015 season, Wolff has remained involved in the sport by launching ’Dare To Be Different’, an initiative aimed at increasing the number of women involved in motorsport.

She has also taken up an analyst role for new UK broadcaster Channel 4.

Wolff became the first woman in 22 years to take part in an F1 weekend when she drove in FP1 at the 2014 British Grand Prix. She had a few more Friday practice outings for Williams, while also running during in-season tests.

The MBE recognises distinguished service to the arts and sciences, public services outside the Civil Service and work with charitable and welfare organisations of all kinds.

Susie Wolff and her husband, Mercedes motorsport boss Toto, announced last October that they were expecting their first child together.
