Schumacher fans want ‘honest’ update, says ex-manager

Michael Schumacher’s former manager Willi Weber has urged the seven-time F1 world champion’s family to give an ‘honest’ update on his health.

Schumacher suffered severe head injuries in a skiing accident in December 2013. He stayed in a coma for six months before returning home in July 2014 to continue his recovery.

Since then, updates on the German’s condition have been very limited, though former Ferrari boss Luca di Montezemolo recently said the latest news “were not good”.

Speaking to the German-language edition of Gala, Weber exhorts Schumacher’s family and relatives to revise their policy in terms of releasing health information.

“I think Michael's fans would be happy if they were given an honest message about his condition,” he said.

“It would also help the people with whom Michael worked all these years better cope with the situation.”

Just before Christmas, Weber already took to his Facebook page to complain that Schumacher’s wife Corinna had been preventing him from making a visit since the F1 legend’s accident.

Around the same period, Schumacher’s current manager Sabine Kehm was forced to deny a report that claimed the 47-year-old could be aided in walking, and slammed the story as “irresponsible” because it gave “false hopes to many people involved”.
