Former Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo says the latest news about Michael Schumacher's health "is not good".
Schumacher suffered severe head injuries in a skiing accident in December 2013, which left him in a coma for six months before he finally returned home to continue his recovery in July 2014.
Since returning home, updates on Schumacher's condition have been few and far between, with his manager Sabine Kehm moving to deny reports he was being aided in walking back in December of last year.
Montezemolo - who was Ferrari president throughout Schumacher's time with the team - has now said: "I have news and unfortunately it is not good."
Reuters reports Montezemolo did not give any further details.
"Life is strange. He was a fantastic driver and only had one accident with Ferrari in 1999."
The BBC reports Schumacher's manager Kehm declined to comment when contacted.
Montezemolo said in December he still believes "in a miracle" regarding Schumacher's recovery, while FIA president and former Ferrari team principal Jean Todt said last year Schumacher "is still fighting".
