Toro Rosso ace Carlos Sainz says “I want more points” at this weekend’s Canadian Grand Prix, adding that Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is more challenging than it appears.

The Spaniard has shown poise and speed to enjoy a steady opening third to his 2016 F1 campaign, though he was also left to rue missed scoring opportunities on a couple of occasions like in Monaco last time out.

More generally, Toro Rosso has had a strong package in the Ferrari-powered SRT11 but slightly underachieved in terms of raw results as it only places sixth in the Constructors’ standings.

Sainz hopes the Faenza-based outfit can increase its tally at a venue that seems deceptively easy, according to the 21-year-old.

“It's difficult to put the power down here – there's always some oversteer,” Sainz said.

“It might look like a very simple circuit because you have the same kind of corners all the time, but each of these chicanes has different tricks and you need to take each one of them in a diverse way.

“All in all, this is a fun circuit that on paper might seem an easy one, but driving it is always a challenge and it definitely produces good races – I want more points, we can do it... so let's go for it!!”.

Sainz’s maiden trip to the Canadian Grand Prix last year saw the Spaniard finish a quiet 12th in a race where Toro Rosso struggled to be a factor.
