Red Bull reserve driver Pierre Gasly has racked up an impressive 286 laps in Abu Dhabi during Pirelli's latest wet-weather tyre test ahead of the 2017 Formula One season.
Piloting a modified version of the 2015-spec RB11 that simulates next year’s increased levels of downforce, the Frenchman sampled the new intermediate and full-wet compounds over the two-day session at Yas Marina Circuit.
Gasly, who had completed 277 laps in Red Bull’s previous slick tyre test held at the same venue in mid-October, described his latest Red Bull outing as “great”.
The Milton Keynes-based outfit is one of three teams, along with Ferrari and Mercedes, that supply mule cars to help Pirelli test its wider 2017-spec products, with the dimensions increasing from 245mm to 305mm at the front and from 325mm to 405mm at the rear.
