Had Max not been penalised three additional places for not sufficiently slowing down for Sirotkin’s incident in Q1, the celebrating 21 year-old would have scored the elusive 10/10. He spent his race slicing through the field like a hot knife through butter…13th after the opening lap, 11th on lap two and 9th on lap three. On lap eight he was up to 5th. He even led for 24 laps on his initial soft compound tyres, equalling the pace of his Mercedes and Ferrari rivals. If not for his grid penalty, could he have battled for the win or at least the podium? Of course!
