Romain Grosjean says he is confident Haas will sort out the brake problems he had to cope with in the VF-16 during Friday practice for the Hungarian Grand Prix.
The Frenchman was a strong ninth around the Hungaroring in the morning session, but slipped down to 15th in FP2 as he complained about his brakes. Grosjean was quite vocal over the team radio, saying “the rear was all over the place, I’m really getting fed up.”
Having cooled down after the session, the 30-year-old gave further details about the issues.
“It’s been a few races we’ve been struggling with the brakes,” Grosjean said. “The first quali-style lap I was struggling with some front-locking.
“The next push lap it was all over the place on rear-locking, I lost it into Turn 1 so I just need to understand to why.
“It’s not easy to say, not easy to analyse.”
Grosjean admitted that Haas was “not quite yet” on top of the problem but the former Lotus driver insisted the situation will be under control for qualifying.
“I’m sure by [Saturday] we’ll find solutions,” he added.
“We always find solutions, so I’m sure we’re going to sort it out.
“So far we’ve always done a great job and moved forward, so it should be sorted.”
