Better than the best of the rest in the dry, his Haas wasn’t nearly as strong in the wet, but Romain made it three Q3s on the bounce. The Haas was also a bit lazy off the line, dropping two places. He came in for tyres after Hartley and Hülkenberg and gained an advantage. After that he spent a huge portion of the race frustratingly staring at the exhaust pipe of the clearly slower Sainz.
