Onboard video: Timo Bernhard's crazy-fast dash around the Ring!

After rushing around Spa faster than an F1 car, Porsche once again rolled out its 919 Evo LMP1 charger, this time for an uncompromising attempt at breaking a 35-year-old record around the Nurburgring.

The venue's daunting Nordschleife and its lap record was owned for decades by Stefan Bellof who became the fastest man around the Green Hell back in 1983 driving a Rothmans Porsche 956 Group C car.

Friday morning, Timo Bernhard crushed his countryman's record. But the surreal onboard footage views like a fast-forward, delirious video game, especially when the Porsche barrels down the straights at almost 370 km/h, not to mention the unbelievable cornering speeds!

If anything however, the footage also pays tribute to the great Stefan Bellof, for to lose just under 60 seconds to this modern car reminds us of the German driver's massive ability, and also of the fact that he left us way too soon.

Fasten your seat belts, and check out Bernhard's frantic mad dash.
