Mercedes looked to have a solid advantage over the rest of the field after Friday's running, with Nico Rosberg ending FP2 0.9s clear of the first non-Mercedes car. Lewis Hamilton was half a second slower than his team-mate but says he will make changes to his car for FP3 having got his engine settings wrong in the second session.
Ferrari endured a difficult Friday and looks to have close competition from Red Bull and Williams at Interlagos this weekend, though Daniel Ricciardo will take a 10-place grid penalty after qualifying for using a new power unit having taken the updated Renault engine.
Fernando Alonso needs to make up for lost time on Saturday morning after he missed the majority of FP2 when he was forced to stop on track with a power unit problem. The McLaren driver has reverted to his Mexico engine so does not receive a penalty as a result.
The hour-long session will take place in hot conditions on what is a track low on grip after heavy overnight rain washed away much of the rubber laid down during Friday's sessions.
There is a sombre atmosphere in the paddock following events in Paris on Friday night, with Renault employees due to wear black armbands and Romain Grosjean carrying the Tricolore on his arm after numerous attacks on the French capital.
