Daniil Kvyat hopes Red Bull can “extract even more” from the series of upgrades it has brought to Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya for this weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix.
The Russian had a quiet FP1 session, as he could only complete seven laps en route to P7 in the morning.
The Toro Rosso graduate then enjoyed a more productive and competitive afternoon, racking up 25 laps and setting the fifth fastest time.
What’s more, Kvyat finished less than two tenths adrift of Kimi Raikkonen’s Ferrari.
The 21-year-old still feels there’s more to come from Red Bull’s new car developments and vows to wring greater performance out of his Renault-powered RB11 ahead of Saturday’s FP3 and qualifying.
“We know there are a few areas to improve and it's never perfect, said Kvyat.
“We have some upgrades on the car and we have been looking closely on how they work and we hope to extract even more from it tomorrow.
“When you have a new package, obviously the car does change a bit and you want to analyse how you want to set it up. So overnight we have plenty of work to do.”
