Nico Rosberg says there is more to come from him after finishing Thursday's practice sessions for the Monaco Grand Prix 0.75s slower than team-mate Lewis Hamilton.
Hamilton topped the times in the first session while Rosberg languished in ninth place after tapping the wall on the outside of Tabac. In FP2, Rosberg recovered to second quickest but was still three quarters of a second slower than Hamilton, and when asked if there is more to come, Rosberg replied: "For sure, it’s Monaco and you have to build up to it through Thursday, Saturday and then nail it in qualifying."
And Rosberg admits he doesn't feel he has got in to a rhythm in Monaco yet after rain interrupted the second session.
"It just wasn’t the perfect day today, especially because of the weather I guess. Nobody really foresaw the weather coming otherwise everyone would have put on the supersoft tyres immediately in P2, but it just came as a complete surprise and caught everyone out. But it’s the same for everybody. The good thing from today is our car is definitely very quick."
Asked about his brush with the wall, Rosberg joked: "It was a new line I was trying, but the team said to me that it was not sustainable because the car wouldn’t make it through the race, so unfortunately I will have to back away from it a bit."
