Felipe Massa believes the upcoming races will give Williams the opportunity to put pressure on Ferrari in the fight for the podium.
While Ferrari started the season strongly and emerged as the nearest challenger to Mercedes - with Sebastian Vettel even winning in Malaysia - Williams bounced back in Canada as Valtteri Bottas finished third following a spin for Kimi Raikkonen. Ferrari used some tokens to update its power unit in Montreal but Massa says the relative pace shown by Williams gives him confidence for the next two races in Austria and Silverstone.
“Looking that they had this upgrade on the engine and the difference is still similar, I think it shows that we can still fight," Massa said. "We should have an upgrade on the car in the next race and I hope we can catch Ferrari even more.
"I don’t know when Mercedes will put some upgrades on the engine, when they give some upgrades maybe we can even get stronger in that area. So I think things are going in a good line, I would say.
"After this race is an important moment for us, we have a good track for us in Austria, there’s an upgrade so I think it’s a good moment for us to put some pressure on Ferrari.”
