Bottas surprised by Ferrari rumours

Valtteri Bottas says he does not know where rumours linking him with a move to Ferrari are originating from.

Following the British Grand Prix it was reported Ferrari had agreed a fee in the region €12million with Williams to sign Bottas, though there was no agreement with the driver himself. While Bottas says he is unsure where his future lies, he insists has been surprised by the reports.

"Of course as a driver you want it as soon as possible, but sometimes you have to wait," Bottas said. "That’s life. For sure we are going to tell when there is something to tell about. I don’t know where the rumours are coming from."

Asked if he could give any details on his future, Bottas replied: "No, I can’t. For me there is nothing new to tell you since last time. Obviously there are a lot of rumours…

"I don’t know. Nothing is confirmed, so we have to wait and see."

However, Bottas believes 2016 will display if Williams is able to give him a car capable of challenging for the title.

"For sure, this season winning is really difficult and I think maybe next year Williams performance is going to show more whether it is possible or not. I’ve always said I think it is possible, but in F1 it’s never easy with any team.

"I believe in the future of Williams, it’s a good team and it’s been at the top many times. But I have no confirmation yet whether I am going to be a part of that or not and, like I said, whichever team I’m at I will give 100%."
