Felipe Massa will make his first Race of Champions appearance in ten years at this year's event in London.
The Williams driver is teaming up with FIA Formula E champion Nelson Piquet Jr for Team Brazil, marking his return to the event for the first time since Paris in 2005. Massa runs his own charity karting event in Florionapolis each year which has prevented him from taking part in the Race of Champions, but he will be available this November and says he is targeting success with Piquet Jr.
“I’m delighted to be coming back to the Race Of Champions for the first time in ten years," Massa said. "I really enjoyed my appearances in Paris and I’m overdue a return to meet up with many of the world’s best racers from all the different championships.
“Since then the Race Of Champions has often clashed with my own karting event in Brazil but this year is the perfect opportunity to have another go. In our sport it’s not often that you get a chance to race for your country and I look forward to teaming up with Nelson as well. We’ll do our best to bring the ROC Nations Cup back to Brazil and we’ll put on a good show for the fans in London.”
The 11-time grand prix winner joins fellow F1 drivers Sebastian Vettel, Daniel Ricciardo and Nico Hulkenberg at the event, which will take place across the weekend of November 20-21 at London's former Olympic Stadium.
