Formula 1 rookie Lance Stroll is gearing up for his Grand Prix debut this weekend in Australia but it's unlikely to be an easy stroll around Albert Park for the rookie, pun intended.
The reigning European Formula 3 champion steps into the big time as best prepared as possible after enjoying an extensive private test program with Williams last year.
Still, a few off-track excursions during pre-season testing in Barcelona demonstrated the young charger's need to learn.
"I am really excited for Melbourne," said Stroll.
"It’s going to be quite an experience being my first ever Grand Prix. It’s a new track and I have never been to Australia.
"I am just really looking forward to it all and very excited to get started. I can’t wait. I have driven the track in the simulator and I have seen some videos, and onboards. It looks quite tricky."
The 18-year-old Canadian is keeping it simple, taking it one step at a time. His priority will be to stay out of trouble while making the most out of any opportunity that may come his way.
"Even though it is a new track for me it’s a different track also. It’s kind of a road course, so the track really changes a lot throughout the weekend, so that will be a good challenge.
"I will just take it as it comes, push as hard as I can, enjoy it and look forward to the weekend."
