Mercedes headmen Niki Lauda and Toto Wolff are convinced Lewis Hamilton is as driven to win as he's ever been on the eve of the first race of the season.
It's public knowledge that tensions flared up a bit after the 2016 season finale in Abu Dhabi when Mercedes' star driver ignored team orders only to the battle for the world title to arch rival and team mate Nico Rosberg.
While it was bitter end to the year for Hamilton, Wolff believes the recent past has been left behind and Hamilton is now once again raring to go with a team he remains absolutely committed to.
"After Abu Dhabi, it was certainly a tough time for him," Wolff conceded.
"But like many top athletes he has been able to digest things and prepare well for the new season. Our relationship has grown stronger through these incidents," he insisted.
Mercedes AMG F1 non-executive chairman Niki Lauda is on the same page as Toto Wolff.
"I say no," the great Austrian told Auto Bild when asked if Hamilton had lost some motivation.
"Lewis will be highly motivated to win his fourth world championship, so he can catch up with Vettel. It is of particular importance to him," Lauda said.
