Haas F1 Team's Kevin Magnussen isn't impressed with the FIA's intention of introducing a cockpit 'shield' safety device in the future.
In Tuesday's Strategy Group meeting in Paris, the governing body gave the concept the nod over the 'halo' design which was trialed last season, specifying that track tests would take place later this season before the device's formal implementation in 2018.
"We've seen some pictures. I'm not for it," Magnussen told reporters in Sochi on Thursday.
"I don't think we need something like that. I think it's going to be difficult, especially in the wet, with the screen. Even without a screen, in the wet it's difficult to see anything.
"I'm sure with that as well, it's going to be impossible and more dangerous in wet conditions."
Magnussen was among those who didn't favor either cockpit safety device.
Force India's Sergio Perez on the other hand appeared more open to the innovation and its introduction in the future.
"It looks better," commented the Mecican.
"It's probably not at the level of halo in terms of safety but there is a lot of improvement that the FIA think can be done," he added.
"It's a matter of how much development they can do."
