Hulkenberg goes back in time to sample some classic Renault chargers

Nico Hulkenberg was invited recently by Renault and French broadcaster Canal+ to the Circuit Paiul Ricard to track-test two of the manufacturer's most iconic F1 cars.

The German driver was joined by F1 legend Alain Prost who introduced Hulkenberg to his very own 1983 RE40, and by Canal+ consultant Frank Montagny.

But the Hulk also sampled the manufacturer's classic RS01 which Renault raced for the first time at the 1977 British Grand Prix, with works driver Jean-Pierre Jabouille behind the wheel.

The RS01 was the very first Formula 1 car to be powered by a turbocharged engine, but it was also the first to use radial tyres, which were provided by Michelin.
