Fernando Alonso isn't discarding a move to America and a full-time commitment to the IndyCar series in 2018 if his F1 opportunities dry up.

The Spaniard, who shined at this year's Indy 500 before retiring from the race when his Honda engine expired, spoke with NBCSN's anchors during last night's live coverage of the IndyCar race in Texas, and was asked if a move to the US series would be considered.

"Uh, why not?"

"I mean, I'm very open to anything. I don't have a clear answer right now. I would be lying if I told you I know what would happen next year."

Speaking from Montreal, the McLaren was attentive to the track action in Texas as he watched cars race side-by-side on the daunting super speedway.

"Watching now the race, these guys, they are the best guys," he said.

"I have to learn many things to do one race, I need to learn so many more to do the whole season.

"I'm more ready to do F1, try to find the best car possible out there. I would look at different options.

"Indy 500 would be the first priority for the triple crown, but full-season another time, why not?"
