Jenson Button's main racing schedule this year will be centered as expected around a Japanese Super GT programme with Honda.

The 2009 world champion will race for Team Kunimitsu alongside Super GT winner and 2013 Super Formula champion Naoki Yamamoto.

The series will consist of eight races, the first of which will take place at Suzuka on April 20. There will also be one fly-away round in Thailand at the end of June.

It's also rumored that Button could beef up his season with a stint at Le Mans for the very first time, albeit at the popular classic event which takes place in July.

The former McLaren driver could to the legendary track at the wheel of a 1988 Jaguar XJR-9 Group C prototype.

The Tony Southgate-designed Silk Cut car enjoyed a banner year in 1988, winning at Le Mans with Andy Wallace, Johnny Dumfries and Jan Lammers while also allowing Martin Brundle to clinch the World Sports Prototype Championship for Drivers.

The 2018 edition of the Le Mans Classic, which is held every two years, will take place on July 6-8, just a few weeks after the traditional Le Mans 24 Hours event.
