Kevin Magnussen collected a well-deserved sixth-place finish in Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix after a rather lonely and uneventful afternoon of racing.
The Dane kept himself out of trouble for the better part of the 66-lap race, holding his own in the mid-field with a steady and solid drive as 'best of the rest'.
"It was pretty uneventful this race, except obviously for the restarts which were a little bit tricky with the tyres being difficult, but it was the same for everyone and I didn't really have any problems," said K-Mag.
"I had a really good start. I was alongside the Red Bulls, but I didn’t really want to fight them as I knew they were much faster.
"My job was to stay in seventh and settle down from there. I was able to defend well, keep out of trouble on the first lap, so I was happy.
"It’s been a strong performance and I think we deserved to get the kind of points we’ve scored in Bahrain and here."
Haas displayed a consistent level of performance over the course of the Barcelona weekend, a quality Magnussen attributes to the good behavior of his VF-18 around the Circuit de Catalunya's fast sweeps.
"Our car is particularly strong in the high-speed corners, but it's not bad in low-speed corners and in a straight line either, so it's an overall really good car," he added.
"I think we're going to be very strong on the highspeed tracks like Spa, Silverstone, here, but I hope we can be alright on the low-speed stuff as well."
Magnussen vows to keep the momentum going, targeting a regular haul of points at every round.
"We should be able to score points at every race, and we have had the car to do that, we’ve just had some mistakes and mishaps that meant we didn’t score points regularly.
"It’s good to get some good points on the board. I’m happy we’re back more in our deserved position in the constructors’ championship, as well.
"We just need to keep this level up and continue to score regularly."
