Robert Kubica, Alfa Romeo's new reserve driver, reported for duty this week in Hinwil from where he sent a message to his many fans.
Kubica, whose technical feedback is highly rated, was enrolled by Alfa to fulfill a reserve, development and simulator role with the Swiss this season.
The former Williams driver's move was likely facilitated by personal sponsor PKN Orlen which has become a co-title sponsor for the Alfa Romeo squad for 2020.
For Kubica, visiting Hinwil was a homecoming of sorts, the Polish driver having made his F1 debut with the team in its previous iteration as BMW Sauber back in 2006.
On Twitter, Kubica addressed his fans and his return to Hinwil.
"Hi everyone, it's Robert. I'm here in Hinwil, a kind of comeback home where I started my career in Formula 1 in 2006.
"It's very nice to be back in this environment, I have seen many people which I worked with in the past.
"I just did the seat fit in the new car, so I'm looking forward not only to drive the car, but also to work with the team."
