Sebastian Vettel says he should soon have clarity on his F1 future with Aston Martin, but the four-time world champion claims he isn't worried about his prospects for 2022.
Vettel signed up with Silverstone-based squad following his exit from Ferrari last year, and the German has been the team's best performer so far this season, scoring a podium in Baku and outscoring teammate Lance Stroll by 17 points.
Upon Vettel's hiring last year, it was believed that the 53-time Grand Prix winner was on a multi-year deal with Aston Martin, but while it appears that the German's contract with his team for 2022 has yet to signed and sealed.
"I'm talking to the team obviously, and I think we'll have an answer very soon," Vettel said ahead of this weekend's Italian Grand Prix. "But at this point, no news."
Vettel was evasive on when a potential new deal will be signed, insisting that he "can't give much more insight".
"As I said, we are talking to each other," Vettel added.
"I really enjoy working with the team. I think the atmosphere is great, and I do believe the future of this team is very, very bright.
"So yeah. I'm not worried. And I feel that we will have an answer soon."
Vettel also chimed in on the flurry of driver confirmations that hit the wires this week.
"It's been an exciting week," Vettel said.
"It's nice to see that George [Russell] gets the opportunity to move up, nice to see that Alex [Albon] comes back. I think with the talent he has, he deserves a spot in Formula 1."
