Lewis Hamilton headed to the stewards' office after clocking in P2 in the opening practice session in Mexico City to answer to an alleged transgression of track limits in FP1.
Early in the session, the Mercedes driver drove straight on at the he Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez's first corner, running across the grass before rejoining the track.
However, the Briton ignored a bollard pinned on the left-hand side of the track and around which he should have gone as required by the sporting rules.
"Any driver who leaves the track on the left-hand side between Turns 1 and 2, or who passes to the left of the bollard on the apex of Turn 2, must re-join the track by driving to the left-hand side of the bollard at Turn 3," clearly stated a note from the event's race director.
Given that the transgression occurred in free practice and did not put anyone in harm's way, it's likely Hamilton will be let off the hook by the stewards with a mere reprimand.
