Mick Schumacher emerged unscathed but battered and bruised from a massive crash in Saturday's Saudi Arabian qualifying session.
The Haas driver was sitting ninth in Q2 with five minutes left on the clock when he ran wide at the high-speed Turn 12 and spun, the Haas hitting the wall broadside at full speed on the left-hand side of the track.
Medical crews were quickly on the scene, but Haas tweeted that Schumacher was conscious.
Haas team boss Guenther Steiner later said that his driver was okay, with no visible injuries and that he had talked to his mother.
The young German was nevertheless taken by helicopter to a hospital in Jeddah for a full precautionary check-up.
The red flag was deployed immediately after the crash and teams were thereafter waiting for the session to resume.
The second segment of qualifying kicked off without Lewis Hamilton who shockingly made to make the Q2 cut.
It was the Mercedes driver's first Q1 elimination – on pure pace - since the 2009 British Grand Prix.
Qualifying had been disrupted at the outset following a crash by Williams' Nicholas Latifi who hit the barriers at Turn 13.
