Aston's new factory has been labeled as a "game changer" by the team but only time will tell if its second ground effects car will follow suit, or at least allow the team to become a consistent top-tier midfield contender.

But the biggest development for Aston for 2023 is the arrival of two-time F1 world champion Fernando Alonso who takes over from the now-retired Sebastian Vettel.

The 41-year-old Spaniard enjoyed his first outing with Aston Martin last month in Abu Dhabi at F1's post-season test. And Alonso felt that it had been an honour to get behind the wheel of a car representing "such an iconic brand".

"It was good! It was a very nice experience. I feel honoured to drive for such an iconic brand," he said.

"I tried to meet all the mechanics, the engineers, and [I will] try to remember a lot of new names, for sure!"

Alonso will be paired with Lance Stroll who will undertake next seventh season in F1 in 2023, his fifth with his father's team.
