Williams Racing development driver Jamie Chadwick will remain part of the British outfit's Driver Academy this season while she competes in the INDY NXT series this season.

Chadwick, a three-time W Series champion who has been part of Williams' junior driver programme since 2019, will race with Andretti Autosport in the 2023 INDY NXT by Firestone Series.

The 24-year-old charger will take part in the 14-race championship sanctioned by IndyCar as the first female racer to compete full-time in the series, which was previously called Indy Lights.

However, Chadwick will continue to work with Williams Racing in a "personalised simulator program" as she dovetails her responsibilities with her commitments in the US.

"To be continuing my relationship with Williams is amazing," commented Chadwick.

"I’ve had their support since 2019. Having the opportunity to immerse myself within the team and keep that Formula 1 dream alive is very important.

"I look forward to seeing what we can achieve together."

Williams' Sporting Director Sven Smeets added: "We’re very excited to have Jamie continuing as a core part of our Driver Academy at Williams Racing.

"She’s an incredibly talented driver and an important role model in inspiring the next generation of females in motorsport.

"We look forward to supporting her in 2023 while she takes on the new challenge in INDY NXT."

Williams will unveil its 2023 F1 team on February 6, with Alex Albon embarking on his second campaign with the Grove-based squad and American rookie Logan Sargeant making his F1 debut with the team.
