Stewart takes the mickey out of Miami GP grid security staff

Sir Jackie Stewart is an F1 legend, and legends aren't easily intimidated.

As he concluded his grid walk ahead of last Sunday's Miami Grand Prix, Sky F1's Martin Brundle sought a few words from celebrity visitor and 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer.

However, the Swiss was in a restricted zone that even Brundle could not access. After the latter had called out in vain to the tennis legend, Stewart, standing alongside Brundle, offered to go and get Federer.

The Scot ducked under the security rope and boldly made a beeline for the Swiss.

But he was barred from approaching the latter by two members of the starting grid's security staff who would have none of Stewart's antics, perhaps unaware that they were dealing with F1 royalty.

Unflappable under pressure, just as he was during his remarkable career in F1, and never one to back down from a challenge, the three-time F1 World Champion courteously pleaded his cause, with little success at first.

But eventually, amid the commotion, Stewart had the last word and duly delivered Federer to Brundle as promised.

The great Scot later posted a picture on Instagram, describing his audacious security breach.

"The security did a good job bringing me back behind the ropes…," Stewart joked. "I haven’t had to sneak past security in a while, but anything for you @martinbrundlef1 ‼️"

Make no mistake folks, Sir Jackie is still a force to be reckoned with in F1!
