The Albert Park stewards have decided that neither Fernando Alonso nor Esteban Gutierrez should be penalised after the pair had a massive collision in the Australian Grand Prix.
The Spaniard was hunting down the Mexican on the run to Turn 3 when the McLaren hit the rear left of the Haas and ended up in a series of scary rolls in the gravel trap. Alonso quickly scrambled out of the wreckage unscathed, as Gutierrez ran toward him to enquire about his condition.
Though it appeared that the Haas slighted drifted left in the braking zone, Alonso quickly dismissed the idea that Gutierrez was at fault and even said he might even have been “too late” himself. After investigating the crash, the stewards ruled out against taking any further action.
A statement read: “The stewards examined the evidence and conclude that no driver was wholly or predominately to blame.”
