Famin: Alpine not placing any numbers on 'end objectives'

Interim Alpine team principal Bruno Famin says the Enstone squad has not placed any numbers on its "end objectives" for the remainder of its 2023 season but insists a collective effort is in the works to "turn things around".

Alpine will undergo at Zandvoort its first race under Bruno's leadership, having parted ways after Spa with former team boss Otmar Szafnauer as well as with sporting director Alan Permane.

Only time will tell if the wholesale changes will prove beneficial. But Famin says that next weekend's round of racing will equate to "an exciting fresh start" for Alpine.

"Clearly, the weeks leading up to the break were not easy for everyone at the team," said Famin in Alpine's Dutch Grand Prix preview.

"It’s important now for us to keep our heads down, work hard collectively on improving all areas and aim for our results on track to underline our ambitions.

While Famin claims that Alpine is staying the course regarding its objectives, the Frenchman also made clear that no precise "end objective" had been set for 2023, a somewhat contradictory stance.

"In terms of end objectives, we will not place any figures or numbers," he added.

"So far this season, results have not been in line with expectations and we have to find solutions to quickly fix our level of performance.

"We’ve demonstrated what we can achieve – for example Esteban’s podium in Monaco, Pierre’s third place in the Sprint in Spa – and we have to take these moments as a source of motivation with the aim of finding repeat levels of performance.

"The sole and immediate expectation is that everyone involved in the team continues working hard across all areas.

"We have ten races remaining to turn things around and I have every confidence that all members of the team will give it their all to achieve it."
