Daniil Kvyat says he is gaining confidence in the Red Bull RB11 after more consistent running over the last two tests.
Following a tough opening test at Jerez, Red Bull improved at the Circuit de Catalunya last week to complete over 400 laps. The first day of the final test saw Kvyat set the fourth fastest time and complete 75 laps on a day when only two teams reached three figures and the 20-year-old says he feels ready for his first race for Red Bull.
“I’m well prepared,” Kvyat said. “At least this year we are doing quite a lot of laps so I’m getting used to the car, to the team and it’s very helpful for me.
“I feel that I’ve been getting all the useful things that I have to get done, done. It’s very useful, it gives you some confidence. You know the procedures, you know how the team works, you know what the team wants from you. You feel more comfortable and everything is happening more automatically.”
Following his penultimate day in the car, Kvyat says the Renault power unit is getting closer to its Melbourne specification but can still be progressed in certain areas.
“It felt fine. I could drive it so it was fine! There’s always some room for improvement and we’re always looking if there is some room for improvement.”
