The starting grid for the 2026 Hungarian GP

The Hungarian Grand Prix sets the stage for a dramatic showdown as drivers prepare for the final encounter before the summer break.

Lando Norris delivered a spectacular late flying lap to claim pole position, snatching the top spot from Lewis Hamilton in the closing seconds of Saturday's thrilling qualifying.

However, post-session penalties have significantly reshuffled the top rows of the starting grid.

Hamilton received a three-place drop after stewards found him guilty of impeding Oscar Piastri.

Meanwhile, Mercedes driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli suffered an identical three-place setback for failing to lift sufficiently under yellow flags following Max Verstappen’s late spin.

With multiple key frontrunners demoted further down the order, today’s event guarantees an explosive, completely unpredictable round of racing at the Hungaroring right from lights out.
