Nico Rosberg admits it is “annoying” to miss out on pole position for the Chinese Grand Prix to team-mate Lewis Hamilton by just 0.042s.
Hamilton posted an impressive lap time on his first run in Q3 which he was unable to improve upon, leaving Rosberg to try and take pole with his final lap. The German improved and set the fastest final sector but was just unable to beat Hamilton, and when told the gap over team radio he replied: “Oh come on, guys!”
When asked where he felt he lost time to Hamilton, Rosberg said he could have made up such a small amount of time in a number of areas.
“There’s not one specific place, it’s just 0.04s and that makes it even more annoying because it’s very, very close,” Rosberg said. “A lap is never 100% perfect and 0.04s is really the blink of an eye, you know? So that makes it even more disappointing.
"When it's 0.04 seconds, that's nothing so I am frustrated, because it's so close and I would have won a tough pole today."
