Scott Dixon clinched in Toronto on Sunday his first win of the 2022 IndyCar season, but it was milestone achievement for the Chip Ganassi charger.

Dixon's 52nd win in the series equaled motorsport legend Mario Andretti's track record in IndyCar, but fellow icon A.J. Foyt remains the all-time wins leader with 67 victories.

The Kiwi triumphed in Sunday's action-packed race from Andretti Autosport's Colton Herta and Arrow McLaren SP charger Felix Rosenqvist.

Dixon's banner win was his fourth in Toronto and extended to 18 his remarkable run of consecutive IndyCar seasons with at least one win, while also winning in a record 20 seasons overall, all of which have been undertaken with Chip Ganassi Racing.

"Ended a streak there, which is fantastic," Dixon said after Sunday's race. "Just so happy for the team. A crazy year for the 9. The PNC Bank No. 9 back in winner’s circle. It just feels so good.

"To be close to Mario, every time I’m asked these questions, I’m just so thankful that we still have A.J. and him in the pits.

"We get to see them; we get to talk to them. It’s just fantastic. It’s huge, man. I just feel so lucky to be a part of this group."
