Happy 'Bert Day' to F1i founder Bertrand Gachot

Today, we at F1i.com raise a celebratory glass to our esteemed founder, Bertrand Gachot, who turns 61 on this day.

Bertrand's motorsport career spanned an impressive 47 Grand Prix appearances, but his life in the fast lane extended beyond Formula 1, with the Franco-Belgian etching his name in automotive history with an exceptional victory at the 1991 Le Mans 24 Hours, driving alongside teammates Johnny Herbert and Volker Weidler for Mazda.

After hanging up his racing helmet, Gachot's entrepreneurial spirit took center stage. He spearheaded the acquisition and global expansion of the Hype energy drink brand, establishing it as a prominent player in the industry.

Despite stepping away from the driving seat, Bertrand's passion for racing never waned. Hype remained a steadfast supporter of Formula 1, prominently sponsoring Force India/Racing Point until 2018.

And who can forget that Team Silverstone, now Aston Martin, has its roots in Jordan Grand Prix, for which Bertrand proudly raced the stunning Jordan 191, pictured here above at Monaco in this wonderful shot by veteran F1 photographer Paul-Henri Cahier.

Designed by Gary Anderson, the flawless and dazzling green machine is widely regarded as one of F1's most aesthetically pleasing racers.
