There was a distinct sense of déjà vu under the glowing lights of Marina Bay on Sunday night as George Russell sat cross-legged on the main straight, trophy gleaming beside him, a pose that echoed Lewis Hamilton’s own celebration on the same tarmac in 2018.
But this time, the stage belonged to Russell.
After two blistering qualifying laps and an utterly dominant drive, the Mercedes driver silenced any whispers about fading form and proved that, when the stars align, he’s as formidable as they come.
It’s been easy to overlook his brilliance amid McLaren’s duels and title talk elsewhere – but in Singapore, there was nothing subtle about this victory. Emphatic, electric, and thoroughly deserved.
