The Circuit Paul Ricard could choose to use the entire length of the famous Mistral straight for next year's French Grand Prix return.
The venue secured France's first Formula 1 race in a decade last year, with a tentative date of June 24 earmarked on the 2018 calendar.
Paul Ricard originally hosted the race in the early 1970s and the track was dominated by the 1.8 km Mistral straight and the following spectacular high-speed right hand Signes corner.
Reports initially suggested that a chicane would divide the famous Mistral straight, but French daily L'Equipe has reported that the track may in fact revert to its original layout, with an uninterrupted run down the straight.
"It would be more sensational if we arrived with more speed at the Signes corner," said French driver Esteban Ocon.
"But if it (the chicane) stays, that'll just be another opportunity for overtaking."
L'Equipe said a final decision will be taken after consultations with "other drivers and teams".
