Schumacher eyes plum ART F2 drive for 2019

Mick Schumacher's march to Formula 1 should continue unabated next year, with the 19-year-old son of F1 legend Michael Schumacher expected to graduate to F2 in 2019.

According to report from Germany's Kolner Express, Schumacher spent time last weekend at Monza with another famous son, Nicolas Todt, the co-founder of the top F2 team ART Grand Prix.

Speculation is placing Schumacher with the front-running outfit for next year, with the FIA F2 series acting as an additional prerequisite to the German charger's path to F1.

In the interim, Schumacher continues to battle on in Formula 3 with Prema, currently standing fourth in the drivers championship, 36 points behind leader Dan Ticktum, with nine races to go.

This weekend, Schumacher will sample a DTM car for the first time, driving Mercedes AMG's C63 charger in a demo run set to take place at the series' Nurburgring round, an initiative put together by DTM boss Gerhard Berger.
